FOOTBALL LAW (FOR NON-LAWYERS)

Course Introduction

The Football Law (for Non-Lawyers) course is a two-week intensive online program offered by the Academy of Leadership Sciences Switzerland. This course is designed for individuals who are involved in or aspire to get involved in football industry, but who do not have a formal legal background. Football, as a globally regulated sport, is governed by complex legal frameworks, and this course will equip participants with essential practical knowledge about the legal regulations and structures impacting football at both the national and international levels.
Participants will delve into topics such as legal framework governing the world of Football, with the emphasis on player transfers, the regulation of agents, and dispute resolution in football. Whether you are a football administrator, agent, player, or someone interested in the legal side of football, this course is perfect for you.
The course will also provide an opportunity to explore the rules and procedures that are particularly useful for those studying for the Football Agents Examination. The focus is to help participants understand the legal framework and more easily navigate the material required to pass the test.

Course Structure

  1. The Law Governing Professional Football
    Overview of legal systems regulating football, including national and international frameworks.
  2. Regulation on Transfer and Status of Players
    Key regulations governing the transfer and status of players in both domestic and international football.
  3. The New Agents Regulation and Transfer of Players
    Understanding the new regulations impacting football agents and the transfer of players.
  4. Dispute Prevention and Dispute Resolution in Football
    A comprehensive overview of dispute prevention and dispute resolution mechanisms within football, including internal and external arbitration bodies.
  5. The Role of the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) in Football Law
    Examining the function of CAS and its influence on football-related legal disputes.
  6. Recent Cases in Football Law
    Analysis of recent, significant legal cases that have shaped the current landscape of football law.

The Academy of Leadership Sciences Switzerland (ALSS) is an international education institution that offers continuing education, further education, and post graduate advanced education courses, workshops and programs focusing on advanced studies in Leadership and Management. Course Presenter

Petra Pocrnic Perica is an internationally recognized sports lawyer, arbitrator, and consultant. She serves as an arbitrator for the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) in Lausanne for nearly ten years. She is a former arbitrator before Football Arbitration Court in Croatia and today is an arbitrator at the Arbitration Court of the Hungarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry. Today, Petra presides over the Arbitration Division of the Croatian Association for Civil Law. In addition to her legal practice, Petra is a director, lecturer, and speaker for various international master's programs and conferences in sports law. Petra is an active member of the Women in Sports Law Partnership and Education Committee. She also leads No.9 Sports Law & Consulting, a sports consultancy platform operating out of Croatia and Switzerland advising different football (and other sports) Stakeholders.
